Spring Break

This past week has been busy with spring break. Funny, Joel thought it would be more work since Sam is usually in school during the day, but since he entertains Annaleigh, it evens itself out nicely. Sam has been really excited about it and kept talking about all the projects we were going to do (we did a lot of "projects" together before I got pregnant and he started school) so the pressure was on to find entertaining things. We didn't get quite as much done as I would have liked, but that's life!

The first thing we did was decorate some outfits for Baby. I thought it would be a fun way to get the kids excited about their upcoming little brother and to make something special for him. The top picture is a watermark tee using glue and dye that I got the idea from this blog. The glue took forever to dry, but it was easy and I like how they turned out.

Next we tried acrylic paints...I think Sam's is adorable but Annaleigh's was pretty gruesome. Hers  looked like a giant blood stain. I had to throw it away it was so bad. :P

We also broke out the pool I found for $6 over the winter. Bad mommy forgot sunblock though, so the kids got burned.

We're the mean kind of parents who pretty much do not buy the kids toys other than birthdays & holidays (my poor kids don't even get kids meals besides special occasions, haha) so one day we went to the dollar store and the kids got to pick out two things each. Allie had a hard time narrowing it down to two, but it's fun for them to be able to buy whatever they want.
Annaleigh chose a wand and fake flowers
Sam got a football and a little ring toss game

There have a been other things done as well, playground trips and lots of paint and playdough. Today we're making icecream sandwiches and dying Easter eggs, and tomorrow strawberry picking!
