Looks like things are about to get even busier around here! Joel is changing career fields so in September we are going to be moving down to Texas for six months of training. I love moving around and living in new cities (Texas isn't new, but the city after it will be) so I'm excited about the upcoming changes. Only thing I'm not looking forward to is all the packing. The military will do the move for us, but if we do it ourselves we'll get several thousand dollars for our effort, so to me it is worth it. For some reason, the town we're moving to has very very limited apartments/housing options. We'll be extremely lucky if we can get into a 3 bedroom apartment (I've literally had people laugh at me when I asked about getting on a waiting list) so while we're hoping for the best, we're preparing for the worst. Our backup plan is to get a two bedroom apartment, put all our stuff in storage, and live on air mattresses for six months. I'm planning on starting the packing process right away so we have plenty of time, the only thing that is  little hard is that it will be close to a year before we see anything we put away now. Mostly though, I am just praying that we get into a good apartment complex. The place we rented last time had some really bad problems (think major roach infestation, ugh) so if we can get into a 2 bedroom in a good area I will be very happy.

6 week check up

Baby Boy is six weeks today! I'd like to say its going by fast, but honestly, it's been a long six weeks or at the least it's felt like six weeks. First, I think my c-section this time around took a lot longer to recover from...probably because I have a lot more to do this time. I'm doing pretty well right now and mostly recovered, although it still hurts if I try to suck in my stomach or Owen kicks me when we're lying down together. Also weeks 2-3 of breastfeeding were pretty much pure torture. I'm pretty sure that if I didn't know I could do it, I would have quite. Uck. Thankfully, all is well now in that department.

six weeks!

For the first two weeks Owen was just as sweet as could be. In fact, that was the word I used to describe him to everyone. Week three hit, and during the day he's still my sweet baby but right at 6:30 each night he starts crying. and crying. and crying. A good night ends at 10, but a lot go until 11 or 12. I try to look at it positively and think that he's making us well-rounded parents and one day we can brag (not sure "brag" is the right word here...) about how we lived through colic (at least the standard definition of colic) but right now it stinks. I hate that there is nothing I can do to make him happy. Actually, I think the hardest part is that there is no down time for us anymore. The crying starts before Sam and Allie go to bed and goes up to our bedtime. Haha, and to make it all better, Annaleigh recently started waking up an hour earlier than her usual time. One thing to be thankful for-the moby-because if anything is going to make that boy stop crying, it's that thing. Definitely got our moneys worth out of that. We also finally found a binky that he'll take which is big for me!
all snuggled up with mama, he sure makes my day a whole lot cuter

Anyways, that's my whining. Babies cry and new parents are tired. We get it, right?? Everything else is going pretty well. Joel's offer to have me go out on a week night has really been great-Tuesday night never looked so good.  ;) I've been trying to get out a lot during the day because that helps me not go crazy from all the fighting and whining going on between the older two.  Groceries and the park are a breeze, and I can even manage taking the three to the pool, and yesterday we succesfully did bowling!

Birthday boy and fine print

My boy turned six last week! We just had a little party at home with the five of us, but it was nice. I was a little worried because Sam had high expectations for his birthday cake and was making some big requests, but I managed a cake that was really fast to make and he said he loved it. Win! Last minute I found a camo cake idea on pinterest that turned out cute.

A couple weeks ago I found an add on facebook from a couple who is starting up a photography business and needed clients to build their online portfolio and were offering free sessions to five people with newborns. I was really excited when they let us know we'd been chosen. So Memorial Day we spent three hours getting pictures of Owen taken, and they turned out cute. Only problem? I didn't read the fine print, and what they were actually offering was  the sitting fee waived ($120) but the cd and actual rights to the photos is an extra $250. It's not a totally crazy price considering the time they put into it, but still, going from free to $250 is a pretty big leap. So that was pretty disappointing since I'm not buying them. Haha, also, last minute they asked if Joel would come so they could do some military themed pictures, and I kind of sprung that on him- what I didn't realize (and he definitely didn't) was the he was going to be up there for a solid hour modeling.  Anyways, I actually had already planned on getting family pictures done by a different (and much cheaper) lady, and we had those taken yesterday, so I'm hoping those turned out well!
