Rearrangin'

We've been doing a lot of rearranging the past few months, and have a good bit left to do still. We recently did a pretty major overhaul of our living room, and I love it! It's so much more cozy. We used to have all the toys upstairs in a spare room, but honestly no one ever played in there & we have other plans for that room now, so the switch (along with getting rid of lots of toys) had been awesome!

The two small pictures are before. The space was fine, but we found that the space past the brown recliner was always unused.

Now, we put the tv against that half wall, and behind the couch we have this:

I bought two of these shelves, and I love them! Besides Allie's Barbies & dollhouse stuff, this all the toys! I got rid of all the random things that didn't have a space & all the things the kids hardly touched. They play with what they have so much more now that there is less, and they haven't missed anything.

On a different home decorating note, we've got Christmas stuff up. Every year I've done colored lights, but this year I went one color, and I love it. :)

You can see our Christmas tree from outside and I love it. And from the inside, we have  the white lights framing our tree.

My sideways blurry night picture. :P

The tree IS taking up the kids play space, but they like being able to play under it! :)

Tabletops: part 2

Here's the rest of the tables from the women's event I attended. :)

Table Tops

Our church has an annual women's event where several women get to decorate a table anyway they like, and I participated this year! It was way out of my comfort zone (as a hostess I also had to lead a discussion) but it was a lot of fun. I even ended up decorating two tables since not enough people signed up. Here's a few pictures from the evening...there were about 50 tables total, so it was a pretty big event. It was a great evening and so much fun seeing how everyone decorated.

Here was my first table...I "took" my husband to Paris for our themed date night this month, so I thought it would be fun to do my table the same way. It was a lot of fun, and it got a lot of compliments.
I probably should have ironed the table cloth...for the place mats, I used scrap book paper, I bought the plates at Hobby Lobby, and the bowls came from the Dollar Tree (the tulle bags inside the bowls are filled with fancy chocolates)

My second table didn't come out quite as good as I had hoped. I think I should have gone with a colored table cloth, and I also had some purple hydrangeas I wasn't able to put on there either. I also added a few items after this picture was taken.
Here's a close up of the succulents... I already had the hen & chicks, so with a little dirt, moss, & $2 glass bowls from Walmart, I was able to make four bowls for just a couple of dollars. I love how they turned out.

Ten

Thursday, the husband and I celebrated ten years of marriage. I can't believe it's ten years already, so I think that's a pretty good sign (haha). That man of mine did good...he surprised me by taking the day off of work & taking me to the mall where I got go pick out a new sparkly diamond ring. Later that evening we went out to a little Mexican restaurant (which was THE fanciest restraint Samuel had EVER seen, lol) and then we all gathered around the firepit. I finished up the evening by falling asleep at 7:30. Apparently the day tuckered me out. Man I'm getting old...

I think each year God shows me something about our marriage, and this year the thing I've been overwhelmed by is how grateful I am that my kids have a father who loves his wife. As a child of divorce, I know the pain, anxiety, and confusion that a broken marriage causes. Obviously, we have our own set of issues, but I know that our kids have stability in our relationship, and that really is huge. Annaleigh drew this picture a little while back of us "date-nighting" and it warmed my heart. (Interpretation: we're cuddling on the couch watching a movie with candles on the table.)

Favorite Things

Cherokee Toddler Boots (Target, $25)
These are at the very top of my little kid shoe price range (their feet grow so fast!!), but since Target had a bogo sale, I was able to pick up these and a pair of shoes for Owen for $35.

.

Harry Sneakers (Target, $17)
Love these, because they're athletic enough for running and being a little boy, but they also look good as church shoes, which means Owen only needs one pair of shoes! Aaaand, they're even in Bronco's colors. :D

"Love" wall art (Hobby Lobby, $25)

 Mohawk Shag Rug (Walmart, $125)
This rug has me happy as a clam. (So happy I didn't even wait to put away laundry before snapping the picture!) We were in desperate need of something big (and dark) to cover the living room floor, and this rug is awesome. It was only $125 for an 8'x10' which is crazy cheap as far as rugs go, so I was afraid it would look awful, but for the price we paid, I am really happy with it!

Threshold Desk Globe (Target, $15)

This was kind of a splurge, but it is so cute, and really not *too* much more than the generic kind you pick up at Petsmart. Plus, buying off of Etsy (usually) means you're supporting a home business, and that's always a plus!

And there you have it, some of my favorite things this month!

Sam's Room

Two months! It's been a while. I took these pictures a few months back, and never posted them, and since things have been dull around here lately, I figured now was a good time to share! I like Sam's room a lot, and I've gotten a lot of steals over the past few years which is always nice!

 Sam's dresser area...

                                                                                  $10 bookcase!

I love Sam's lamp, and it was such a cheap and simple DIY. Started with a $.99 lamp shade, a $5 lamp base, and some cheap ship blueprints from ebay. Just mod podge the blue prints on & added some bias tape around the top and bottom!

I liked Sam's lamp so much, we went ahead and bought this print for Sam. I like that its something that he'll never outgrow!

So there's Sam's room! I wish we could paint it, but since we can't, ah well!
