Last Tuesday we had our home study! It wasn't nearly as bad as I was anticipating. I thought they were going to go through every closet & cabinet in our house, but it wasn't like that at all. We sat and talked for a while...they reminded me of some rules like no talking about any of the children online (so there will never be much mention of them here), no posting pictures, rules on discipline, fire escape plans, proper nutrition-just stuff along those lines. After that, we walked through each room & who/what that room was designated for. We had really good plans from the home builders so she didn't have to, but usually they would have to measure each room. We have our home set up so that we have one room completely set apart for our future foster kids (although it does serve as a playroom for now), and if ever the need arises, we can use Owen's room for a child (and Owen would share with Sam in the meantime). I did point out a few different things, like where medication is stored (it has to be in a locked box, so I purchased tool boxes for this purpose) our cleaning supplies are on a high shelf in the laundry room with a childproof thing on the door knob, information about where & how any firearms are stored. She also checked to make sure we have running water and electricity.

I will say though-the kids were super naughty! This is the second time we've had social workers in our home, and both times were like this. Last time Owen wouldn't stop diving off the couch head first, and this time it was Annaleigh running around and yelling like a maniac & refusing to go upstairs when I asked. Lol! My only consolation was that I know they've seen a lot worse, but it was still not what I had been hoping for when I asked the kids to be on their best behavior. Kids.

Unfortunately, we've also hit our first snag in getting our license. We have to get background checked in GA, TX, & NE, and TX changed their forms. We already sent in a notarized release, but now they want a new one, and it's a lot more difficult now since Joel is gone and working crazy hours. We're getting that issued resolved today, but it's little things like this that end up pushing things back by weeks or months!
